Brotherhood
My favorite pillar of SLB is Brotherhood. Within our organization there is an understanding that the bond that men can form can help them reach higher levels of success. I have had the pleasure of forming true forms of brotherhood: men I can lean on through any of my storms and who will hold me close and help me be better, always.- Brother Gayle Smaller Jr. Spring '09, Alpha Line

Scholarship
Our primary goals as SLB are to ensure that one another graduates and that we are successful in what it is that we decide to do post schooling. We are here to act as a support group to help push one another towards achieving that success of creating educated, driven, socially conscious Lambda Beta men who can be productive members of society.- Brother Isaia Román-Roche Spring '08, Founding Line

Community Service
Community service is a way to contribute to the people of my area and a way to be a greater citizen of society. During my youth, many people gave their time to me, and without them I would not have grown into the person I am today. I utilize my service to the community, especially to the youth, as a way to bring joy to people and a way to bring joy to myself. As a Brother of Sigma Lambda Beta, The community service pillar allowed me to contribute to the community in amazing ways! My favorite memory while partaking in community service was providing help at the Madison food pantry. It was awesome to see so many bright smiles and it truly brought joy to me. The community service pillar means everything to Sigma Lambda Beta. As Brothers, we strongly uphold the community service pillar by having 3-5 community service events per semester. Sigma Lambda Beta was founded with the vision of contributing to the Latino community because of the disadvantages and obstacles faced in the Latino communities. The vision has transpired to reality by the fraternity contributing thousands of service hours nationally. We will continue to give back to our communities in order to do for others, what others have done for us. - Brother Carlos Garcia Spring '13, Zeta Line

Cultural Awareness
Cultural Awareness is important because the reason it was started on this campus there weren’t any organization actually reflective of my culture. It was a super culture shock for me coming from New York and to have to teach people he’s latino and that we come in different colors and dialects. This all makes cultural awareness important on the campus of UW-Madison. It is important to educate people on who you are as an individual and who you represent.- Brother Lester Rodriguez Spring '08, Founding Line
